If any of this sounds familiar, this page and a conversation with our team is a sensible place to start.
Single women
You don’t need a partner to start a family. Many of our patients are single women choosing to begin with IUI, a simple procedure that is often the first treatment recommended.
Female couples
For same-sex female couples, donor sperm IUI is a common and effective starting point. We’ll talk through which of you carries the pregnancy and how the legal and consent steps work.
Already exploring donor sperm
Perhaps you’re already looking at donor sperm banks and want to talk to a clinic first. We’ll answer your questions honestly, before you commit to anything.
How IUI with donor sperm works
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) places prepared donor sperm directly into the womb at the time you ovulate, giving the sperm a shorter journey to meet the egg. Fertilisation then happens naturally inside your body. There is no egg collection and no general anaesthetic, and the insemination itself takes only a few minutes.
Every pathway is confirmed individually. IUI isn’t right for everyone. Whether IUI or IVF is more appropriate depends on your age, fertility history and test results, and we’ll agree the best route with you after your consultation.
Focused services and direct specialist involvement
Patients are supported by fertility doctors throughout the treatment pathway, with an emphasis on clear communication and understanding what happens next.
Focused Services, Experienced Team, Excellent Center!

Questions patients ask us before treatment
IUI is often suitable if you ovulate regularly and have at least one open, healthy fallopian tube. We’ll confirm this with simple tests before you start. If IUI is unlikely to work for you, we’ll say so honestly and discuss IVF instead.
Most women describe it as similar to a smear test. A thin, flexible catheter passes through the cervix to place the prepared sperm in the womb. It takes a few minutes and needs no anaesthetic.
Many patients need more than one cycle. We’ll discuss a realistic plan with you at consultation, including when it makes sense to consider IVF.
Donor sperm comes from HFEA-regulated UK sperm banks, where donors are screened for health and genetic conditions. We’ll explain the process and help you choose a bank.
In the UK, donors are identifiable. Donor-conceived people can request their donor’s identifying information once they turn 18.
For single women, you are the legal parent. For female couples, the rules depend on whether you are married or in a civil partnership, and on completing consent forms before treatment. We’ll guide you through this.
